About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Senior Staff Nurse to join our team in the Division of Surgery at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).
  • This is a Band 6 Permanent post with flexible hours and full time options available.
  • The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of surgical/emergency nursing and be able to work in an inpatient and ambulatory setting on A609.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Able to work and be Nurse In Charge of either STAU or Surgical SDEC, coordinating the care of patients, accepting referrals and managing the nursing team
  • Actively engage in research and development opportunities for the service
  • Knowledge regarding governance and its importance in promoting and maintaining a safe and quality driven environment for patients, visitors and staff
  • Take immediate action and inform sister where performance, conduct or attendance falls short of the expected standards
  • Assist with and participate in, the recruitment, retention and professional development of staff

Requirements:

  • Current NMC Registration
  • 1st Degree in nursing or health related subject or working towards
  • Willingness to work towards Masters level academic study
  • Appropriate post registration experience in surgical nursing for at least 3 years
  • Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
  • Evidence of commitment to research based practice or evidence of project work undertaken
