Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Biomedical Scientist to lead a team of staff in a section of the department at Health Services Laboratories. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for training and quality management to join our Biochemistry team at Barnet Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • To co-ordinate and participate in the routine processing of specimens, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely completion of investigations.
  • To allocate work to other BMS and MLA staff, ensuring that each sample receives the appropriate requested investigations.
  • To handle specialised and urgent specimens efficiently and effectively.
  • To participate in technical work as required and maintain accurate records.
  • To ensure the safe use and maintenance of equipment and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
  • A qualification in pathology disciplines consistent with State Registration requirement.
  • MSc or equivalent experience in a relevant subject.
  • Current registration with The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Specialist Diploma in relevant discipline.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years HCPC registration and experience of supervising staff. They should also be able to write and review SOPs, utilise statistical analysis software, and communicate efficiently in English. A Disclosure and Barring Service Check will be required for this position.

Estimated Salary

£45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
