Job Description

As a key member of our engineering team at Saputo Dairy UK, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our site equipment and infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and repair our state-of-the-art cheesemaking equipment, as well as perform planned preventative maintenance to optimize site facilities and equipment efficiency.

Additionally, you will contribute to project engineering for the installation and commissioning of new processing and production lines, as well as the movement and installation of existing lines at our Hawes manufacturing site. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining mechanical and electrical systems, including motors, drives, electrical paneling, and PLC control units.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining all plant machinery and equipment, including cheese making, processing, bulk milk storage, pasteurization, processing, and packing equipment.
  • Maintaining site infrastructure, where appropriate.
  • Performing Planned Preventative Maintenance routines (PPM).
  • Assisting with project engineering, installations, and commissioning of new and second-hand equipment.
  • Participating in on-call duties as part of a rota system.
  • Providing site engineering support.

You will be an ideal candidate for this role if you possess:

  • An electrically biased multi-skilled engineering background, preferably with an HNC or HND qualification.
  • Hands-on experience with a broad range of equipment and machinery within a production and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Working experience with lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to use your own initiative to solve problems and act decisively.
