At Wyre Borough Council, we are seeking an experienced professional to lead our waste management services in a time of legislative change.

About the Role

We are looking for a Sustainability and Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team at Wyre Borough Council. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of our waste management service, including household residual collections, compostable organic collections, recycling collections, bulky household collection, and clinical waste.

In this role, you will also manage and oversee the environmental enforcement service and external kenneling and public convenience contracts. You will take a lead role in ensuring quality services are delivered efficiently within budget and engaging with stakeholders on service issues and promoting the waste hierarchy.

You will play a key part in developing services in response to changes under the Environment Act, evaluating options, updating contracts, and reporting to Members. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience of managing local authority waste management contracts and proven project management, communication, and engagement skills.

We require a good standard of education, enthusiasm, and drive to encourage sustainable waste and resource management practices that support our climate action plan.
