Job Title: Military Solicitor/Litigation Executive

Location: Remote, with occasional travel to our Manchester office. We offer a competitive salary, plus on-target bonus, and a range of benefits, including 27 days' holiday, hybrid working, company pension, and more.

Simpson Millar LLP is seeking an experienced Military Solicitor/Litigation Executive to join our team. As a key member of our Military department, you will be responsible for developing and managing a mixed caseload of Military matters, with a focus on high-value cases. You will also conduct your own advocacy where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage a caseload of Military matters, with a focus on high-value cases.
  • Market and develop the Simpson Millar Military department.
  • Conduct cases on behalf of clients, in accordance with our firm's policies and objectives.
  • Develop local business to secure referrals.
  • Participate in the development, marketing, and success of the Military Department.
  • Develop referrals from other established Partners who already refer to Simpson Millar.
  • Conduct a high-volume caseload of matters on behalf of clients, as directed and in accordance with our firm's file management and supervisory policy.
  • Maintain a diary and bring up entries in accordance with our firm procedures.
  • Work with our case management system, databases, and normal office IT systems.
  • Have detailed knowledge of relevant forms and procedures.
  • Compliance with our firm's Money Laundering Procedures.
  • Compliance with the Data Protection Act.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience of running a Military caseload.
  • Interest and experience in conducting advocacy.
  • Interest in and ability to develop links with potential referral organisations.
  • Good business development skills.
  • Good marketing skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Military work.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of procedures and protocol.
  • Good practical skills, including proven negotiation skills.
  • Good personal organisation and ability to adhere to strict time limits.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to deal with individuals from all walks of life.
  • The ability to prioritise work when necessary.
  • The ability to provide the highest standards of client care.
