Senior Podiatrist Offender Health Specialist

As a Senior Podiatrist Offender Health Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing and treating patients within HMP settings. This includes determining a clinical diagnosis, agreeing with the patient the podiatric treatment plan, and maintaining records as an autonomous practitioner.
Your Key Responsibilities- Manage your own clinical caseload, including waiting lists, in partnership with the HMP site.
- Maintain professional standards and comply with all PPH standards, policies, and procedures.
- Be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work, including patient management.
- Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise this effectively and efficiently.
- Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent, and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, including complex presentations, and formulate individualised management and treatment plans.
- Deliver a wide range of podiatric treatments, including nail surgery, MSK/biomechanics, wound care, diabetes care, and routine care.
- Provide advice and instruction to patients to facilitate self-care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and carers to ensure understanding of the condition.
- Provide specialist advice, teaching, and training to other members of the MDT as required.
- Maintain your own clinical professional development by keeping up to date with new trends and developments.
- Be an active member of the CPD training programme and participate in presentations, training sessions, and external courses.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure delivery of a coordinated service.
- Participate in the staff appraisal scheme and Personal Development Plan.
- Undertake measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through Evidence Based Practice projects, audit, and outcome measures.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply to your work situation.
- Represent Premier Physical Healthcare externally regarding the podiatry service provided to patients.
- Promote understanding of the aims of Premier Physical Healthcare to relatives and carers as appropriate.
- Be responsible for your area of work and plan and organise efficiently and effectively.
- Decide priorities for patient management and ensure these remain in accordance with best clinical practice.
- Be responsible for equipment used in carrying out podiatric duties and adhere to company policy.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date documentation and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate bodies.
- Be actively involved in the monthly collection of data and statistics, including audits and outcome measures.
- Be aware of Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement policies to improve safety.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and be involved in reviewing and updating as appropriate.
