Retirement Villages Group (RVG) is seeking a dedicated Head of Health, Safety and Property Facilities to champion the well-being and operational excellence of our vibrant retirement communities.

This role demands a strategic leader with a passion for creating a culture of safety and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of our village facilities.

Key Responsibilities Health & Safety
  • Lead the procurement and management of specialized contractors for essential health and safety services, including risk assessments, asbestos management, and CDM assurance.
  • Provide day-to-day tactical support to the entire organization, offering expert advice on health and safety matters, policy awareness, and training guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with the People team, Head of Care & Wellbeing, and other departments to foster a culture that prioritizes health, well-being, and mental health across the business.
  • Support risk assessments, inductions, and continuous improvement initiatives within the health and safety framework.
H&S Policy, Standards & Reporting
  • Spearhead the development and ongoing refinement of company-wide health and safety policies, working in tandem with relevant teams to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Stay abreast of evolving legislation and guide the organization in effectively adapting to new regulations, such as building fire safety standards.
  • Lead the accreditation process for ISO45001 or other recognized health and safety standards, managing future audits and inspections with meticulous attention to detail.
H&S Advocate
  • Integrate health and safety risk profiling into the procurement process for new suppliers, ensuring due diligence is conducted thoroughly.
  • Cultivate strong collaborative relationships with all teams as a trusted business partner, promoting a culture of shared responsibility for health and safety across the organization.
  • Proactively design and implement a comprehensive health and safety training program in partnership with approved suppliers.
Facilities Management
  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day property facilities management, encompassing hard FM services, basic repairs, grounds maintenance, and housekeeping operations.
  • Manage relationships with key property facilities partners, ensuring they deliver exceptional service to our villages, adhering to agreed service levels, scope, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with village teams, particularly Facilities Managers, to ensure all facilities are maintained safely and effectively, maximizing their lifespan and minimizing breakdowns.
  • Provide guidance and support to the village FM group, driving best practices, standardization, SOP development, collaboration, and continuous improvement initiatives. This includes Housekeeping Team Leaders and Head Gardeners.
