Job Description

Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Stockport, UK

Job Type: Permanent

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our client's team in Stockport. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and development, with a focus on creating innovative and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of mechanical products
  • Creation of CAD models and technical drawings
  • Performing tasks in SAP (Raising ECs, BOM creation, etc.)
  • Owning all stages of allocated projects from conception through testing, verification, and launch
  • Development of products, taking into account user experience, technical specification, and production implications
  • Providing innovative solutions to engineering problems
  • Working with Brand Management to develop project specifications
  • Active involvement in VOC of customers and markets
  • Maintaining reporting of project statuses and actively participating in meetings and discussions
  • Driving innovation and implementation of new technology in products and the business

Requirements:

  • Track record of delivering engineering projects in a high-performance environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with key decision-makers
  • Performance-driven, focused on delivering excellent results in a timely fashion and to budget
  • Analytical mindset, able to evaluate results and form conclusions in a methodical fashion
  • Problem-solving skills, working well in group situations
  • Experience in the use of parametric CAD software (preferably Autodesk Inventor)
  • Knowledge of industry design/drawing standards
  • Exposure to designing for compliance with standards
  • Previous MRP system exposure (particularly SAP) preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrable design-to-value capability
