Senior Clinical Psychologist, Dementia Care

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to lead our psychology team working within the Memory Assessment Services and Younger Persons with Dementia Team. The role involves leading the psychology team members as well as some direct clinical work.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the existing lead psychologist to share supervision and delegated management responsibilities for the MAS & YPD psychology staff. The post holder will work clinically with a small caseload and provide supervision to others. We welcome candidates who have completed the postgraduate diploma in Neuropsychology.

This includes offering relevant training and development opportunities. There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. There is a strong emphasis on co-production in the trust and promotion of trauma-informed approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
  • Supervision skills.
  • Knowledge of the theory and experience/practice of neuro-developmental diagnostic assessments and interventions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology.
  • Completion of postgraduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in evidence-based specialist psychological therapies.
