Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Toolmaker to join our Tool Room Team on a part-time basis. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the safe design and manufacture of critical business tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and jigs needed to ensure output targets are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manufacture tooling, jigs, and fixtures as requested by the Engineering, Machine Shop, Assembly, Quality, Stores, and Planning Teams.
  • Undertake or arrange maintenance on plant, production tooling, jigs, and fixtures as required or requested, and develop preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Manufacture prototype and special parts as requested by the production team.
  • Recognize and report opportunities for tooling to assist or improve the manufacturing process.
  • Recognize, remedy, or report failings in skills, equipment, or procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and good housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain good communications and relationships throughout the company.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and make suggestions for improvement.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of standard toolroom equipment, including lathes, presses, grinders, milling machines, drills, welding, etc.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Good hand tool skills.
  • Good housekeeping practices.
  • Excellent skills in maths.
  • Able to work as a team and independently.
  • Sound methodical approach and be inquisitive about how things work.
  • Correct usage of precision measuring equipment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems preferred.
  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship or qualification preferred.
