About the Role
The Senior Technical Officer will provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team at Network Rail.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with Network Rail's safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans, and other instructions.
2. Adhere to Network Rail's policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
3. Manage and inspect the quality of work delivered, confirming that assets meet Network Rail's standards.
4. Prepare and manage work and resource specifications, method statements, and plans, ensuring effective project delivery.
5. Provide technical guidance and support to the Maintenance Engineering team.
6. Design, install, test, and commission equipment, ensuring it meets Network Rail's technical requirements.
7. Undertake and supervise technical tasks, surveys, and design work, ensuring high-quality results.
8. Conduct technical inspections, tests, investigations, and analysis of technical data, identifying areas for improvement.
9. Prioritize work arising and agree work plans for the team, ensuring effective resource allocation.
10. Prepare specifications and requisition materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
11. Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
12. Manage information to update systems, databases, and records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
Requirements
1. Knowledge of technical support activities and techniques, with a focus on electrification and plant maintenance.
2. Experience of construction management processes, systems, and standards, with a focus on Network Rail's requirements.
3. Knowledge of design requirements, processes, and techniques, with a focus on ensuring compliance with industry standards.
4. Ability to demonstrate, promote, and embed safe working behaviors within the team.
5. Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to coach, influence, and develop others.
6. Ability to hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
7. Ideally hold or be working towards an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering or leadership subject.
8. Ability and willingness to drive vehicles as required by business need.
Important Note
The Senior Technical Officer is a safety-critical and key safety post. Any offer of employment will be subject to passing the relevant pre-appointment medical, including a drug and alcohol test.
