Gateline Assistant

The Gateline Assistant plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our train stations. As a key member of our team, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing a warm and welcoming experience that sets the tone for their journey.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high level of customer service, responding to customer enquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the automatic ticket barriers, ensuring that they are functioning correctly and that customers are able to access the station easily.
- Inspect and issue tickets, ensuring that customers have the correct documentation for their journey.
- Address customer needs in times of service disruption, providing clear and concise information to help them navigate the situation.
- Ensure the professional appearance of the gateline area, clearing rubbish and ensuring that customer walkways are unobstructed.
Requirements:
- Able to deliver exceptional customer service, responding to customer enquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
- A self-starter with a can-do attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Confident when decision-making, able to remain calm and directive under pressure.
- Able to work to strict procedures, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
About the Location
Our train stations are located in busy commuter areas, with regular services into London and other major cities. As a Gateline Assistant, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, interacting with customers from a variety of backgrounds and cultures.
Working Pattern
This is a part-time role, contracted to work 17.5 hours per week. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including early starts and late finishes, as well as weekends and bank holidays. You must be able to get to and from the station without relying on public transport.
