Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audiologist to join our team as a Principal Paediatric Audiologist. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead and continue to develop the excellent standards of Audiology care in our department.

Main Responsibilities

As a Principal Paediatric Audiologist, you will be responsible for analysing test results and information elicited from patients and their families to propose and agree management plans. You will also identify when further investigations are necessary and make appropriate referrals in a timely manner.

  • Conduct Auditory Brainstem Response and/or Auditory Steady State Response Testing
  • Work as an independent practitioner without supervision, providing clinical services directly to patients
  • Create individual rehabilitation plans for each patient, maintaining a flexible approach and responsive attitude to patient need
  • Establish a good rapport and work with patients of all ages, including gaining their co-operation in clinics and self-management at home
  • Verify and validate hearing aid prescriptions for adult and paediatric patients using real ear and coupler measurements
  • Provide training both in-house and to external groups
  • Supervise junior staff
  • Actively participate in Audit and quality assessment tools

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a BSc/MSc in Audiology or equivalent, and registration as one of the following (or eligible for registration): HCPC/RCCP/AHCS. Significant and recent post-qualification experience in Paediatric Audiology is essential, as is experience of working in an NHS setting or equivalent. Experience in Auditory Brainstem Response Testing and managing complex and non-routine cases is also required. Desirable skills include experience of audit, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver work to an agreed timescale and meet tight deadlines.
