McLaren Automotive is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to join our New Model Launch team. This team is responsible for the pre-production build of all new models in readiness for launch onto the main production lines.

  • As a Technical Lead, you will provide first-hand support in the development and launch into production of future McLaren Automotive vehicle platforms and variants.
  • You will provide support during early prototype build phases, including virtual builds, and demonstrate a broad knowledge of the build process to provide training and assist when issues arise.
  • Training and mentoring technicians and team members to achieve high-quality working practices and processes across all build phases is also a key responsibility.
  • You will assist in the continuous improvement of production and business processes, including quality, safety, cost, and productivity.
  • Providing cover for absence within the team and having a flexible approach to working hours as the business demands is also required.
  • You will assist in maintaining series team member versatility charts and ensure cross-training and skills development.
  • Ensuring safe working practices are adhered to and that all team members are using the correct protective clothing is essential.
  • When required, you will aid the Technical Group Leader in conducting performance reviews and recruitment interviews.
    • You must be able to demonstrate a broad job knowledge of automotive processes and specific skills for the area in question.
    • An understanding of niche vehicle brands, ideally experience working on McLaren products, is preferred.
    • A foundation degree in engineering would be preferred, but a technical background in an engineering discipline would be considered.
    • Quality-focused with a keen eye for detail is essential.
    • A good level of knowledge for Microsoft Office packages is required.
    • Training in COSHH awareness is necessary.
    • The candidate will have determination to drive forward the business to 'Best in Class' performance standards in line with brand expectations.
