About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Bespoke team in Gloucester. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting our "right first time" approach.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Underwriting and Risk Management: Develop, negotiate, and profitably underwrite new and existing business within your authority and in line with Ecclesiastical strategy.
  2. Embedded Support: Provide embedded underwriting support at partner and customer sites as required.
  3. Work Planning and Management: Plan, prioritize, and manage your individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLAs to deliver exceptional customer service.
  4. Coaching and Training: Act as a referral point for the team, providing coaching, training, and support in a timely manner.
  5. Communication: Use the appropriate method of communication (telephone, face-to-face) to support Ecclesiastical's right first time approach and maintain successful internal and external relationships.
  6. Audit and Compliance: Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve your performance and understand and operate within regulatory frameworks.
  7. Customer Service: Identify complaints, act upon them, and resolve them in line with company policy.
  8. Team Support: Provide team manager support as and when required.
  9. Caseload Management: Manage a defined caseload.
  10. Professional Development: Actively expand your technical and niche knowledge through informal and formal channels (networking, internet, industry press, in-house training, CII, CPD).
Requirements
  1. Education: Minimum of 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C or above or equivalent experience.
  2. Qualifications: Qualified Dip CII or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale.
  3. Underwriting Academy: Graduate from Ecclesiastical's internal Underwriting academy at level 2 within an agreed timescale.
  4. Market Knowledge: Market, industry, and company knowledge.
  5. Customer Service: Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service.
  6. IT Skills: Appropriate IT skills (will be tested).
  7. Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills.
  8. Coaching and Stakeholder Management: Experience of acting as a coach within a commercial environment and effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment.
