Job Summary

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Contracts Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Commercial & Contracts team, you will be responsible for coordinating and evaluating tender submissions, developing commercial and contractual evaluation models, and providing day-to-day liaison and advice on commercial and contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and evaluate tender submissions, including the development of commercial and contractual evaluation models
  • Provide day-to-day liaison and advice on commercial and contractual matters to personnel within the relevant business lines
  • Research and resolve commercial and contractual issues involving company Legal, Finance, Tax, and Insurance advisers
  • Maintain awareness of market intelligence relevant to vendors providing services to the company
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators and continuous improvement of contractor performance
  • Use commercial expertise to create significant savings in relation to mitigation of claims from contractors or in the preparation of claims against contractors/other parties
  • Effective coordination between the Commercial & Contracts team, other company departments, and contracting entities to minimize problems/claims

Requirements

  • Significant and proven contracts engineering experience with an oil & gas industry operator
  • Substantial and proven experience in establishing major contracts from conception to close-out with an oil & gas industry operator
  • Excellent data analysis skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions
  • High level of literacy/report writing and numeracy skills
  • Experience in conducting meetings with contractor and operator personnel up to senior management level
  • Presenting and negotiating professional opinions in contract and other commercial areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in a commercial or related subject
  • Familiarity with Ivalua or similar contracts management system
