About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Careers Advisor to lead our careers education programme and work experience programme. As a Careers Advisor, you will provide a high-quality, accessible, and impartial careers education, information, advice, and guidance service to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • To ensure the provision of high-quality Information, Advice, and Guidance across the school.
  • To ensure that all students experience a coordinated programme of IAG at all key stages, preparing them to make choices and plan for their continuing education and career paths.
  • To work with the Pastoral Leader for Alternative Provision to facilitate flexible, personalised pathways for KS4 students to cater for individual needs.
  • To contribute to the personal and social development of students by ensuring they can make informed and considered life choices regarding education, training, and employment.
  • To ensure students have access to impartial Careers advice, working with them to discuss career or educational options.
  • To lead on the Work Experience programme, including Risk Assessments.
  • To liaise with Education Business Partnership (EBP), tutors, and employers to provide an outstanding programme of Work Experience.
  • To liaise with outside agencies and other providers to provide personalised work experience for students following the Alternative Curriculum.
  • To liaise with work-based training providers and colleges to ensure best provision for students.
  • To provide support and advice on CV applications, job hunting, and apprenticeship routes.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues to protect and safeguard students.
  • To foster a positive 'can do' approach within this area of the school's work.
  • To work within the spirit of the school's policies and initiatives.
  • To participate in training and other learning activities as required.
Requirements
  • GCSE English and Maths A*-C or equivalent.
  • Evidence of professional development relevant to the role.
  • A working understanding of the full range of career opportunities for students, including apprenticeships.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of child protection.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Office applications or similar.
  • Understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
  • Ability to relate well to young people and a genuine interest in delivering positive outcomes for them.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality, ensuring that personal beliefs are not expressed in ways that exploit the position.
