About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Flood Risk and Resilience Senior Principal Consultant to join our team at BMT. As a key member of our Environmental Services Team, you will play a critical role in providing technical leadership and expertise in flood risk and resilience services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior technical leadership and expertise in flood risk and resilience services, including river hydraulics and river hydrology, flood risk assessment methods, and river water quality.
  • Lead the delivery of flood risk and resilience projects to schedule and budget, ensuring high-quality results and client satisfaction.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
  • Identify emerging trends and opportunities in flood risk and resilience, ensuring BMT remains at the forefront of industry developments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Australia and Canada on flood risk consultancy and TUFLOW modelling projects.
  • Act as line manager for the Flood Risk and Resilience team, providing technical advice, leadership, and mentoring.
  • Assure the delivery of flood risk and resilience services, acting as Checker or Certifier as required.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in flood risk and resilience. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, such as Engineering Science, Geography, or Environmental Science.
  • At least 10 years' experience in flood risk and resilience, including river hydraulics and river hydrology, flood risk assessment methods, and river water quality.
  • Professional Chartership status with a relevant professional institute, such as CIWEM.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with TUFLOW and FMP modelling software.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write compelling technical proposals and present complex information to clients and stakeholders.
  • A self-motivated and logical approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
