About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Expert to join our team at McDermott International, Ltd. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project control activities and supervisory experience in a matrix environment.

The Senior Principal Cost Control Specialist plays a critical role in solving complex problems impacting project performance. They identify and solve issues proactively, applying broad knowledge of Project Controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret the project contract and assist the Project Director in its application.
  • Contribute to the Project Execution Plan.
  • C coordinate all financial, contractual, and administrative issues related to the project with Project Accounting.
  • Ensure project setup tasks are completed correctly.
  • Support Project Accounting in compiling and reviewing invoices for the project.
  • Monitor project costs and revenues; prepare necessary project reports as required.
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and agree to costs and revenue with clients and subcontractors for changes in contracts and work.
  • Ensure Project Controls systems are properly set up and maintained.
  • Support claim development, including back charges against subcontractors and vendors.
  • Develop the monthly project EAC.
  • Assist the Project Director in preparing financial and contractual correspondence related to Project Controls.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of financial and contractual matters.
  • Monitor key dates, particularly those defined in the main contract and any subcontracts.
  • Prepare contract supplements.
  • Attend meetings concerning cost, progress, technical, and contractual matters.
  • Lead the Change Management process on the project.
  • Manage Project Risk and Opportunity Management (PROM).
  • Prepare the project close-out report.
  • Oversee cost and progress functions on the project.
  • Support Regional and Global Project Controls with ad-hoc tasks as required.
  • Liaise with personnel to improve schedule accuracy, cost estimates, and contract strategies by benchmarking and providing feedback.
  • Support bid efforts as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to McDermott systems and processes.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering/Construction/Business or related field, or equivalent combinations of technical training or experience.
  • At least 12+ years of experience in project control activities.
  • Supervisory experience in a matrix environment and progressive experience working for a contractor.
  • Solid background in the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum
