**Environmental Consultant Position:**

Huphuphup is seeking a senior or principal ecologist to join our team in Knaresborough/Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting surveys of habitats and protected species, formulating mitigation proposals, and collaborating with the landscape team for Biodiversity Net Gain requirements.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Undertaking Biodiversity Net Gain assessments using the DEFRA metric v3.1 and preparing Ecological Impact Assessments/Ecology Chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Supervising projects under EPS licences for bats and great crested newts, preparing technical reports for planning submission, and contributing to BREEAM Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, and EIAs.

**Qualifications and Requirements:**

  • A degree-level qualification in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Experience in survey licences for bats and great crested newts, including knowledge of mitigation and successful development licence submissions.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
