About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to students with special educational needs in a Chesterfield-based school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist class teachers in conducting lessons and managing the classroom environment.
- Follow the school's behaviour management policy to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all.
- Assist relevant subject teachers in handling student behaviour.
- Support students with additional needs, such as SEN, SEND, SEMH, ASC, MLD, and ADHD.
- Monitor and record student progress, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the planning and review of student support plans.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree or other relevant degrees.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
- An updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Patient, empathetic, and compassionate approach to understanding and addressing the diverse needs of learners.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when implementing IEPs and tracking student progress.
