About the Role

As Deputy Room Leader in the Babies Room, you will play a vital role in supporting the Room Leader and ensuring the smooth running of the room, providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for our youngest children.

  • Curriculum Development & Delivery: Support the Room Leader in planning and delivering a high-quality curriculum aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Leadership & Management: Take the lead of the Babies Room in the Room Leader's absence, demonstrating strong leadership skills and initiative.
  • Baby Care: Provide sensitive care and support to babies, including nappy changing, feeding, and sleep routines, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Engaging Activities: Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development, fostering a love of learning in the babies.
  • Assessment & Documentation: Observe and assess babies' progress, documenting their development and maintaining accurate records to track their individual growth.
  • Parent Communication: Build strong relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about their child's progress through regular communication and feedback.
  • Team Support: Supervise and support other Early Years Educators in the room, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Health & Safety: Contribute to the overall health and safety of the room environment, ensuring a secure and nurturing space for the babies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working with babies and young children.
  • Strong understanding of child development in the early years.
  • Proven leadership potential and ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Patient, nurturing, and sensitive individual with a calm and positive demeanour.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and remain calm under pressure.
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
