Calco Services Limited is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee key MEP packages on one of the most prestigious project awards given for HS2. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing large-scale construction projects, preferably with a major station or construction project background.

Job Description:

The role will involve administering contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub-contractors, supporting the assessment of EWN's and compensation events, and providing regular cash flow forecasts of expenditure for the package. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for reporting expenditure against the package budget on a monthly basis and supporting the change management process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Support the assessment of EWN's and compensation events
  • Provide regular cash flow forecasts of expenditure for the package
  • Report expenditure against the package budget on a monthly basis
  • Support the change management process
  • Assess potential contractor and supplier claims and make recommendations for settlement
  • Finalise contractor's accounts and close out contracts for the project
  • Raise consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties
  • Report on the expenditure of financial contingency built into the relevant packages
  • Provide schedules of rates and commercial input to tender documentation
  • Undertake cost analysis of bid returns
  • Assist the package project manager in resolving all financial commercial issues arising in the tender return
  • Negotiate two-stage fixed-price tenders
  • Receive and review monthly valuations from contractors and prepare recommendations for signature by the project manager and designer
  • Review all instructions issued by the project manager for cost implications
  • Support the change control process and assist in identifying the cost implications of any proposed changes
  • Support the project manager in resolving any claims and disputes that may arise with the contractor

Requirements:

  • Major station or construction project experience, preferably £100m+
  • Strong NEC background
  • Experience of managing MEP packages
  • Package management and procurement experience
  • Degree-qualified or Chartered
  • Structured career history
  • Rail experience beneficial but not essential
  • Long-term career commitment preferred
