Mental Health Support Specialist Role

At Together for Mental Wellbeing, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Peer Support Team as a Mental Health Support Specialist. This volunteer role offers a unique opportunity to draw on your lived experience of mental distress to support others, while developing new skills and building relationships with like-minded individuals.

About the Role
As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will work collaboratively with individuals accessing our service, focusing on their strengths and skills to promote better wellbeing. You will provide 1-2-1 peer support, co-facilitate Self-Management Groups, and run peer-led groups and social meet ups. You will also support with delivering peer support training and co-interview for peer support roles.

What You Will Gain
This role offers a comprehensive training program, including a 3-day peer support training course and induction to the organisation. You will also receive regular supervision and team meetings, as well as ongoing training and development opportunities. Our Peer Supporters tell us that this role has helped them build confidence, supports their wellbeing, and provides a sense of connection with like-minded individuals.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to be willing and able to draw on your lived experience of mental distress to support others. You will also need to be friendly, non-judgemental, open-minded, and able to demonstrate a willingness to learn with a commitment to your own development and wellbeing. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
