At BAE Systems, we are seeking a skilled Principal Engineer - Mechanical Systems to join our team in Barrow-in-Furness.

The successful candidate will have experience in fluid systems design and be able to lead the development of mechanical platform systems for nuclear submarines. This is a challenging role that requires strong engineering skills and excellent communication abilities.

We offer a competitive salary of £52,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits including a pension scheme, annual leave incentive, and share incentive plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical platform systems for nuclear submarines.
  • Develop and capture equipment and component specifications with suppliers.
  • Work directly with customers to develop requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree-level education in engineering, mechanical, or science subjects.
  • Chartered Engineer status within a recognised institute.
  • Background in fluid systems design.
