Wildlife Reserves Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildlife Reserves Manager to join our team at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. As a key member of our Isle of Wight team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our Wilder vision on the island.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of our Isle of Wight reserves, working closely with a second reserves officer to ensure the highest standards of habitat management. You will have experience in a wide range of habitat management techniques and be able to manage the estate to a high standard in line with contractual and statutory obligations.
Key aspects of the role will include promoting the Trust Reserves as exemplars of good management, line managing the Assistant Reserves Officer(s), recruiting and supervising volunteers, and coordinating a varied programme of volunteering and public engagement activities.
This is a challenging and dynamic role that requires a high degree of practical competency, initiative, determination, administrative skills, and diplomacy. You will be an experienced land manager, competent in the use of power tools and tractors, with a confident and engaging communication style. Knowledge of conservation grazing systems and livestock husbandry is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the Isle of Wight reserves to a high standard in line with contractual and statutory obligations
- Promote the Trust Reserves as exemplars of good management
- Line manage the Assistant Reserves Officer(s)
- Recruit and supervise volunteers
- Coordinate a varied programme of volunteering and public engagement activities
Requirements:
- Experience in a wide range of habitat management techniques
- High degree of practical competency, initiative, determination, administrative skills, and diplomacy
