About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer - Digital Systems Integration Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the successful integration of digital systems and technologies within Smiths Detection. This position will be responsible for coordinating and implementing engineering and technical activities related to digital networked solutions, software applications, and PLC low-level controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and prioritize engineering and technical activities for digital systems integration
  • Ensure compliance with business processes and tools
  • Hold accountability for the NW Europe Market, with a focus on the UK, Ireland, and Israel
  • Support Service Delivery and Programme execution for IT & Digital Networked Solutions
  • Collaborate with Programmes, Product Support, and Technology departments
  • Develop and implement test plans, technical documentation, and test cases for functional and performance testing
  • Design and implement solutions for large-scale aviation programmes, critical infrastructure, and airport digital checkpoint environments
  • Provide technical expertise and support for digital networked solutions, software applications, and PLC programming
  • Respond to field service calls and provide IT and SW application backup, training, and support for Field Service Engineers
  • Support Quality and PLP processes, including inputs to Product Support for Service Concepts, Product Service Plans, and design for service and reliability

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Expert knowledge of digital networked solutions and PLC automation
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in installation, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, or technical support activities related to digital systems and technologies
  • VMWare Certified Professional or Associate (VCP) is desirable
  • Sound knowledge of VMware ESX and related technologies
  • Experience with programming and fault-finding PLCs, electrical circuit diagram, and fault-finding ability
  • Computer literacy and competency in use of MS Office Suite and specialized remote access or condition-based monitoring software solutions
  • Proven structured problem-solving methods and experience of engineering process change management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of Project & Risk Management, such as Prince2 or APMP
  • Proven ability to train and mentor others
