Material Science Expert for Aerospace and Military Product Development

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on Material Science Engineer to join our dynamic team at TE Connectivity Corporation, supporting the development of next-generation Wire and Cable products. This exciting opportunity will allow you to sustain and grow the business through continuous improvement and design iterations.
The ideal candidate must possess knowledge and skills covering material science, polymer product manufacturing processes, and have a basic understanding of relevant technologies and current industry practices. They will work closely with Lead Engineers, Product Managers, Process Engineers, and Operations to successfully implement engineering changes and communicate technical issues for legacy products with internal and external customers.
About the Role- Provide engineering support for products used and sold to the Aerospace and Military markets.
- Coordinate product qualification and qualification retention efforts by understanding specification requirements, compiling qualification test plans, overseeing testing, and ensuring proper documentation.
- Organize experiments, trials, testing, and collate data to sustain existing product ranges.
- Write test plans and reports, and update existing product specifications when required.
- Ensure product compliance with REACH/ROHS requirements.
- Support product and materials obsolescence and product migration.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities for product streamlining.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor of Science in Materials or related field. A Master's degree is desirable.
- Strong polymer material science background with hands-on test and processing ability.
- Knowledge of Mil-Aero and Space products/materials is desirable.
- Good knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Green Belt in Six Sigma Design preferred; if not, willingness to pursue.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across global multicultural teams.
- High-level written and spoken English language skills.
- Capability to work under limited or no supervision, taking ownership and accountability for project tasks.

We are pleased to offer a total compensation package that includes a base salary of approximately £60,000 per annum, plus additional benefits and incentives. This amount may vary based on individual qualifications and experience.
