Job Role:

We are seeking a talented computer scientist to excel in symbolic AI and its application to autonomous systems, multi-agent systems, agent-based systems, and artificial intelligence planning at the University of Manchester. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge research and teaching methods in these areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new research focii and teach students in symbolic AI and its application to autonomous systems, multi-agent systems, agent-based systems, and artificial intelligence planning.
  • Publish high-quality research papers and secure external funding to pursue real-world impact.
  • Contribute to PhD training programmes and maintain our reputation as an institute of learning.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in one or more of: agent-based systems, symbolic artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence planning, multi-agent systems, beliefs-desires-intentions programming, models of agency, automated reasoning, and logic and computation.
  • A strong research profile in data-intensive AI approaches with a focus on innovative solutions.
