Special Education Needs Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Education Needs Assistant. In this role, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide individualized support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for working with children and young people, particularly those with complex needs. You will be responsible for assisting with lesson planning, delivering personalized learning activities, and contributing to a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
About the School
The school caters to primary-aged students with a range of needs, including severe learning needs, complex needs, autism, and Social and Emotional Mental Health needs. The school values diversity and promotes inclusivity in all aspects of school life.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the planning and delivery of personalized learning activities
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students
• Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents
• Assist with personal care tasks as required
• Foster positive relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional well-being
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure effective support for students
Person Specification
We are looking for someone with:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Estimated Salary: £28,000 - £38,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
