Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Undisclosed, with hybrid working available.

Contract: Permanent, Full-time.

Salary: up to £60,000 + excellent benefits.

About the Role:
This is a newly created position within the finance team, reporting directly into the Finance Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the transactional finance team, with line management responsibility for 4 team members. Key responsibilities include
  1. Managing the firm's transactional Cashroom and Billing teams, ensuring full compliance with the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules.
  2. Working with the Billing and Cashroom Managers to manage WIP and client unbilled costs effectively.
  3. Implementing a robust credit control environment.
  4. Managing the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Team and its operations.
  5. Developing and proposing improvements to finance team processes, procedures, and controls.
  6. Authorising online bank payments on a daily basis.
  7. Preparing high-quality monthly management accounts and commentary to reflect business performance.
  8. Preparing year-end accounts, liaising with auditors.
  9. Providing detailed financial analysis and net profitability reporting.
  10. Preparing cashflow and profit and loss forecasting.
  11. Preparing annual budgets and cashflows within agreed timelines.
  12. Managing statutory and regulatory requirements, including VAT returns.
  13. Reviewing and signing off monthly payrolls.
  14. Completing tax analysis work and preparing draft tax computations.
  15. Managing annual insurance policy renewals.
  16. Providing company secretarial services for group companies.
  17. Providing guidance and training within the finance team on cashroom/billing/time recording and AML working practices.

Requirements:
ICAS/ICAEW/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant with strong SME experience. High organisational skills, able to work autonomously and manage team workload. Strong team management skills essential. Comfortable working in a finance team of 8, in a growing, ambitious SME business. Ability to 'get sleeves rolled up' when required. Flexible, positive, and self-motivated. Meticulous attention to detail, delivering accurate, reliable, and timely outputs. Comfortable learning new systems, developing and implementing new procedures and proposing solutions for problems. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused approach.
