Transformational Protection and Control Engineering Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Protection and Control Engineer to join our team at SSE Enterprise. As a key member of our engineering department, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of projects and provision of guidance to Project Engineers.

About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position based in Scotland, offering a competitive salary of £55,200 - £67,000 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances, and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in Protection and Control engineering, including development, design, specification, and settings of transmission level protection and control systems. You will also be able to technically assess issues and produce a range of technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • To focus on project delivery and support across a portfolio of different schemes.
  • Provide senior technical guidance directly to projects and ensure successful output of Protection and Control deliverables.
  • Leadership in defining the scope, project approach, and resolution of key risks across the 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV transmission network.
  • Execute complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment, and/or technological methods.
  • Implement and comply with CDM procedures and practices, and all other regulatory requirements associated with the nature of substation and electrical system design.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience in Protection and Control engineering.
  • Ability to technically assess issues and produce a range of technical solutions.
  • Effective communication skills, and the ability to communicate often complex technical issues clearly and concisely to facilitate decision making by senior management.
  • Chartered Engineer accreditation with a relevant institution or a clear plan for working towards this.
