Fiscal Strategist

We are seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Strategist to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial oversight and guidance to support the effective management of NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) funding.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to work closely with the finance team and Operations Director to ensure full accountability for RDN finance in the region. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing robust financial accountability, supported by the Finance Officer and Host Organisation finance team.
• Ensuring transparency of RDN usage and maintaining a clear audit trail for expenditure.
• Developing and implementing a streamlined system for receipt and payment of invoices from research delivery organisations across the RRDN region.

The ideal candidate will possess significant specialist accountancy experience, preferably within the health and care research sector or academic environment. Essential skills include:

• Fully qualified CCAB/CIMA Accountant.
• Significant knowledge of current NHS accounting principles and procedures.
• Excellent IT skills, particularly in Google Workspace applications and MS Office applications, including Excel.
• Ability to lead on budget planning activities, undertake financial modelling, and contribute to financial monitoring and reporting.
