Cook Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Cook to join our culinary team at Nightingale Nursing & Care Home. As a Cook, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality catering service to our residents, guests, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a safe, professional, and cost-effective catering service within company operational standards and statutory requirements.
- Ensure all residents have a choice of nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, broadly following standard menus.
- Make punctual food orders two times a week and maintain food costs within budget.
Requirements
- Basic or intermediate Food Safety Certificate.
- Contractual willingness to work towards a Level 3 catering qualification if not already held.
- Two years' catering experience.
- One year's experience of managing people.
- Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace.
- Experience conducting effective person-centred one-to-ones.
- Live within 25 minutes of the Home.
Preferred Requirements
- One year's experience working in a similar role in a residential or nursing home.
- Hold a Level 3 qualification.
- One year's experience in a similar role.
- Two years' catering experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience creating nutritious, well-balanced, and attractive menus.
- Managing/training a team.
- Budgeting and control of purchasing.
- Motivating and working within a team.
- Using new products and developments in the catering industry.
- One year's experience of working as a Chef in a Hospital, Nursing Home, or Residential Home.
- Conducting effective person-centred one-to-ones.
