Job Description: Senior Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practitioner Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Surgical Care Practitioner to join our Cardiac Surgery Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Consultants and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

\

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience as an SCP in Cardiac Surgery, including endoscopic vein/artery harvesting. They will be able to perform complex and minimal invasive procedures, including complex aortic surgery and endoscopic mitral procedures.

\

Key Responsibilities:

\
  • \
  • Manage the SCP team, including staff development, appraisals, and governance.\
  • Perform clinical duties of SCP, assisting Consultant Surgeons in performing cardiac surgery.\
  • Harvest conduit suitable for coronary artery bypass operations by harvesting long saphenous veins and radial arteries.\
  • Act as first and second assistant under direction of senior surgical colleague for cardiac procedures.\
  • Closure of wounds and monitoring patients vital signs.\
  • Work shifts and cover out of hours on calls.\
  • Work in theatre and clinics.\
  • Participate in all aspects of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care at an advanced level.\
  • Manage the SCP team, including all governance, training, development, recruitment.\
  • Deliver a 70% clinical component to their role and 30% related to their management, leadership, innovation, and educational responsibilities.\

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
