We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the University of South Hampton. The successful candidate will be part of an exciting EPSRC-funded project, Edgy Organism, which aims to develop novel end-to-end neuromorphic design approaches and efficient hardware architectures based on spiking neural networks (SNNs).
The project focuses on developing novel computing solutions for the defence and security sector, capable of autonomously and reliably detecting illegal or harmful activities in crowded public spaces, with minimal intrusion of personal space and privacy, over long periods of time.
As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will be responsible for designing and testing detection and estimation algorithms utilizing artificial spiking neural networks, targeted at efficient hardware implementation with novel neuromorphic computing architectures.
You will collaborate with the neuroscience, engineering, and computer science RAs to develop functional models that can learn, store, and detect important information from datasets.
Additionally, you will work with the other project researchers to develop demonstrator applications and conduct research, publish, and disseminate research through publications, seminars, conference presentations, and public engagement.
Minimum Requirements:The successful applicant should have (or shortly be obtaining) a PhD in electrical engineering or a closely related field. It is essential to have experience in estimation and control, machine learning, and mathematical optimization.
The post will be full-time for 24 months.
