Job Title: Site Supervisor

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and lead site-based staff in their daily activities to ensure the successful completion of projects as outlined by the customer. This position will support the Site Managers in driving service delivery, which will be recognized by the client, and ensure that key performance targets and SLAs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Site Manager on all operational activities.
  • Plan and supervise the work of the Projects team and any sub-contractors to ensure that work is completed to a defined standard, within agreed time and budget.
  • Liaise proactively with Project Engineers to prioritize work fronts.
  • Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation.
  • Work with the Planning Engineer and Site Manager to ensure that sufficient and deliverable work fronts are available at all times.
  • Develop a clear succession plan and share knowledge with direct reports to enhance their skill sets and experience.
  • Promote high standards through personal example, understanding the WGM vision and values, and the expectations of the team.
  • Manage and coach individual performance, with the ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members.
  • Ensure compliance with WGM, Electrical Safety Rules, and Mechanical Safety Rules on site.
  • Train to Approved Person (AP) level in relation to Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and Isolation Safety Rules (ISR) where appropriate to the role.
  • Carry out the duties of the Approved Person (AP), meeting the respective technical standard.
  • Promote and maintain safety, follow established work practices, control environmental impacts, and comply with legislative responsibilities.
  • Perform day-to-day line management responsibilities for Projects craft persons, including holidays, training, performance, and timesheets.
  • Responsible for daily delivery of site-based activities as per Programme.
  • Actively participate in Daily Site Briefings.
  • Ensure correct permits are in place where required and associated documentation is completed to a high standard.
  • Ensure a high standard of productivity is realized on site activities with efficient planning of labour, plant, and materials.
  • Ensure adequate requirements are in place to deliver with zero incidents, on time, with zero defects, and within customer compliance targets.
  • Support the Construction Manager in day-to-day activities, achieve adequate understanding of the role to deputize when required.
  • Create any required Risk Assessments and Method Statements, ensuring suitable revision and review is applied pre and post job completion.
  • Drive towards the right-first-time vision, continued job review, and lessons learned application.
  • Attend meetings with adequate detail to provide sufficient and satisfactory updates to the client.
  • Build strong client relationships.
  • Ensure all weekly and monthly internal and external deadlines are met, and when asked, prepare detailed reports to substantiate the figures.
  • Work with the Planning Engineer to ensure performance indicators are created, shared, and utilized to drive performance.

To be considered for this position, you will have at least 2-3 years of previous experience in a similar level role, ideally within an engineering or civils environment, and an excellent working knowledge of the water industry would be beneficial. Awareness of NEC3 Construction & Engineering Contracts, as well as an electrical or mechanical bias, are also essential for the role. Travel to various sites throughout the country is required, so a valid UK driving license is essential for the position.
