They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding Glasgow team, offering a great opportunity to join a well-established organisation that can offer you access and support to aid your career progression.

About the Role

You'll play a key part in the Mechanical Design team and will have the opportunity to lead projects and mentor junior team members. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
  • Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
  • Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Hevacomp, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, etc.
  • Collaborate with the BIM team to prepare models and drawings.
  • Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
  • Site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
  • Report and technical note writing.
  • Adherence to all quality, environmental & governance processes.
  • Managing elements of project delivery and an understanding of budget costings.
  • Reviewing progress, including reporting any anomalies and changes of scope to the project lead.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Good level of computer literacy in a range of mechanical digital tools - Hevacomp, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.
  • Awareness of building physics principles.
  • Experience of working in a design consultancy and/or some experience of working within a contractor design environment is beneficial.
  • Able to take charge of personal project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Comfortable working within time and cost budgets as agreed at project briefing meetings.
