Job Summary:

Silk Route Recruitment is seeking an experienced Head of Buying to lead their Kidswear category. The role reports to the CEO.

About the Role:

The Head of Buying Kidswear will be responsible for preparing the annual buying budget and outlining the buying plan for the year. They will also be responsible for the buying P&L for the Kidswear category across all geographies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the annual buying budget and outline the buying plan for the year.
  • Responsible for the buying P&L for the Kidswear category across all geographies.
  • Align the buying plan with the overall business strategy.
  • Lead improvements in category buying by implementing time buying volume management and improving margins.
  • Manage and develop vendor and supplier relationships.
  • Lead and manage the buying team in Kidswear.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong kidswear buying background, ideally with a UK/European brand or specialized kidswear retailer. You will also need to have experience in critical path management and margin optimization.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of garment construction and manufacturing methods.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Sharp business acumen and a broad skill set in management within large matrix structures.
  • Effective people management, team building, and strong communication skills.
