About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biobank Coordinator to join our team at Newcastle University.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the VIVO biobank, including sample registration, data management, and tissue banking. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a talented team of researchers and scientists.

As a Biobank Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that all samples are properly registered and stored, and that data is accurately recorded and maintained. You will also be responsible for coordinating with researchers and clinicians to ensure that samples are delivered to them in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate sample registration and data management for the VIVO biobank
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of samples to researchers and clinicians
  • Collaborate with research teams to understand their sample requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of sample storage and disposal
  • Develop and implement procedures for sample tracking and inventory management
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant field, such as biology, chemistry, or biochemistry
  • Experience in laboratory settings, preferably in a biobanking or research environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office and database management systems
