About the Role

The City & County of Swansea is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill a temporary full-time position as a Special Guardianship Coordinator. This role will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of Special Guardianship Orders and providing high-quality support to both Special Guardians and children in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate Special Guardianship reviews to ensure the best interests of the child are met.
  • Work closely with a team of support officers to provide stability and support to Special Guardians and children in need.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including social workers, foster carers, and other professionals.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice.

Requirements

  • Hold a Social Work Qualification and have up-to-date knowledge and experience of working with children and families in a multi-agency/inter-disciplinary setting.
  • Have knowledge of the functions of a fostering service and Special Guardianship Orders.
  • Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and service users.
