Data Management Specialist

This is a challenging opportunity to join a large infrastructure services company as they embark on a significant project to replace their financial system. The new system will form the backbone of all accounting, finance, reporting, and management tools for the Global Group.

The Data Management Specialist will be responsible for establishing key management principles, managing the cleansing and migration of data into the new system, and defining requirements along with process owners in line with the overall project strategy and business strategy.

The role will functionally report into the finance team but will also have a reporting line to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing data objects across business processes and segments
  • Maintaining overall oversight over the execution of data maintenance processes and adherence to data standards
  • Providing requirements to IT to acquire tools and support services required to store, manage, present, and dispose of data
  • Monitoring and implementing KPIs for the data objects in line with overall global data standards
  • Ensuring harmonised change management processes, standards, and business guidelines are in place per domain
  • Prioritising, estimating, and QA proposed data changes
  • Working with segment, function, IT, and data stewards to ensure that requested data changes are implemented in a timely fashion
  • Leading a team of data stewards and their work with the functions to resolve issues, maintain standards and guidelines, manage data quality, and run the mechanics of the DG processes
  • Ensuring local data teams grasp the overall change in approach to ensure new data meets agreed standards
  • Working with the wider business on initiatives to leverage data as a source of competitive advantage
  • Defining with the process owners detailed standards and guidelines for master data object content and quality

Resource Management:

  • Coordinating assignment and ongoing fulfilment of data stewards' roles in each of the process areas

Requirements:

  • Confident individual with good interpersonal skills, able to deal with people at all levels and communicate in a clear, non-technical language where appropriate
