Safeguarding Children and Adults Team

We are seeking an experienced Principal Lawyer to join our Safeguarding Children and Adults Team at Kirklees Council. As a member of this team, you will act on behalf of the council in various legal matters related to public law children act proceedings and Court of Protection applications.

About the Job

This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious Solicitors or Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives who want to develop their skills and knowledge in legal services. You will be responsible for drafting complex court documentation, advocating in public and private children proceedings, and supporting Local Authority applications.

Key Duties
  • Draft application forms and court documentation for public law children act proceedings and Court of Protection applications.
  • Advocate in public & private children proceedings, adoption, and special guardianship applications.
Qualification Requirements

You must hold a current practising certificate as a Solicitor or a Civil Proceedings Certificate as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or a Legal Executive Advocate).

  • 27.5 days annual leave increasing to 32.5 after 5 years' service, plus bank holidays.

Salary: £65,000 - £85,000 per annum (dependent on experience) plus a Market Rate Supplement.
