Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine to join our expanding SAS team in North Cumbria.
About the RoleAs a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine, you will be responsible for conducting initial assessments, formulating treatment plans, and managing patient referrals or discharges in the Emergency Department.
You will provide clinical care across a diverse patient spectrum, including resuscitation of critically ill patients, complex cases, pediatrics, and minor injuries.
Additionally, you will assist in department operations, ensuring timely patient care and supervision of junior staff while maintaining patient flow and supporting quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct initial assessments and formulate treatment plans for patients in the Emergency Department
- Manage patient referrals or discharges, ensuring timely and effective care
- Provide clinical care across a diverse patient spectrum, including resuscitation of critically ill patients, complex cases, pediatrics, and minor injuries
- Assist in department operations, ensuring timely patient care and supervision of junior staff
- Engage in administrative tasks, quality improvement initiatives, teaching sessions, and continuous professional development
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Full GMC registration with MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Current certifications in ALS/ACLS, ATLS/ETC, and APLS/EPLS
- A minimum of two years postgraduate experience, with at least 12 months in Emergency Medicine
- Efficiently manage and prioritise your workload based on clinical needs
- Committed to teaching and motivating the multi-professional medical workforce
- Experienced in quality improvement, research, and clinical governance
- Strong spoken and written English skills with high ethical and professional standards
