About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Winchester Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, supporting the Chef in food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of child welfare and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook age-appropriate meals for children, minimizing food waste and adhering to dietary requirements.
- Support the Chef in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and stock control.
- Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive and safe environment for children and staff.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food service role, preferably in a childcare or education setting.
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring healthy eating habits in children.
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) certification.
- Strong knowledge of COSHH and food allergens.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
