Job Summary
The Kitchen Assistant/Domestic Cleaner is a dual role that requires the individual to assist the Health Centre Cook with food preparation, serving meals, cleaning, and maintaining the kitchen and designated areas within the Health Centre to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for inpatients.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist the Cook with food preparation, maintaining high standards of food hygiene, and serving meals to inpatients.
- Clean and maintain the kitchen, including dishes, utensils, and crockery, and ensure they are ready for use.
- Perform general cleaning and tidying of the kitchen, including mopping floors and wiping surfaces.
- Clean and maintain designated areas within the Health Centre, including toilets, using powered equipment as necessary.
- Ensure all duties are carried out with hygiene and infection control in mind.
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the Senior Nurse Manager to ensure the safe and effective operation of the Health Centre.
- Commit to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and understand and comply with safeguarding procedures and confidentiality protocols.
Working Pattern
- This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week, with hours from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- The role is for term-time only, plus 3 days before the boys start back at the beginning of each term and after they leave at the end of each term.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation and/or cleaning in a work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and achieve standards to performance criteria.
- High attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a flexible approach to the role.
