Job Description

E1 EDF Trading Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Automation Specialist to lead the newly created DevOps capability in Quant Engineering.

This role will be instrumental in shaping the entire software development life cycle by automating all aspects of it; from initial development to testing, deployment, and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Automate end-to-end application life cycles to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to define automation strategies and implement templated solutions for various development languages and platforms.
  • Work with Platform Operations to design an automated provisioning process for infrastructure resources.
  • Ensure automated testing is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline with test analysts and developers.
  • Develop an automated process for providing end-to-end test environments.
  • Collaborate with SecOps to ensure data security controls are in place on critical production systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support development teams with production deployments, ensuring adherence to company standards and security protocols.
  • Train others on deployment tools and processes.
  • Manage offshore support development team tasks, developing a middleware API to provide consolidated information on the Quant Engineering estate's health.
Requirements:
  • Former software developer or good understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines, including automated build artifacts, code analysis, and automated deployment with metrics.
  • Experience building and versioning container images.
  • Knowledge of deploying applications to Kubernetes, packaging and deployment tools, application load balancing, and canary deployments with auto-rollback.
  • Exposure to infrastructure as code tools.
  • Proficient in writing automation scripts in a Microsoft stack.
  • Experience with major cloud providers, Azure desirable.
  • Python and machine learning experience advantageous.
Technical Requirements:
  • C# and Python desirable.
  • Build tools (Azure DevOps).
  • Docker essential, Kubernetes desirable.
  • Terraform desirable.
  • Cloud technology (IaaS, PaaS), with strong preference for Microsoft Azure.
  • Git-based version control required (Azure DevOps Server preferred).
  • Sonarqube or similar code analysis tools.
  • NginX, HAproxy, or other load balancers desirable.
  • Logging and monitoring stack such as ELK, Prometheus, Application Insights.
  • Powershell desirable.

Estimated salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
