Public Health Officer

Tamworth Borough Council is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Officer to join their team in ensuring the highest standards of food safety within the borough. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of food hygiene legislation and be able to apply this knowledge effectively.
About the Role
This is a permanent position with a hybrid working contract, offering flexibility and work-life balance. The salary for this role is £45,000 per annum, reflecting the importance of this position in maintaining public health standards. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits including flexible working, a non-contributory health scheme, and payment of professional fees (where applicable).
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out food hygiene inspections, providing guidance to food premises on best practices, and collaborating with other departments to ensure compliance with regulations. To excel in this role, you will need a strong analytical mind, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. A valid Ordinary Certificate in Food Premises Inspection or equivalent is essential, as is the ability to meet the competency framework of the Food Law Code of Practice.
