Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing individualized education programs for students with diverse learning needs. This role requires a strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and behavior support plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Provide instruction and support to students in the least restrictive environment
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to ensure student progress and success
  • Monitor and document student progress, including behavior and academic goals
  • Participate in special education meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education with endorsement in special education
  • Current Michigan special education teaching certification
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions

The Special Education Teacher will work in a school setting, interacting with students, teachers, and other staff. The role requires regular attendance and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
