About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary School in Lewisham, supporting the learning and educational progress of pupils with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Teacher of the Deaf and class teachers to promote inclusion and engagement in all learning experiences.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and ensure Deaf pupils can participate fully in the curriculum.
  • Foster independence in learning and encourage participation in various aspects of school life.

Requirements:

  • BSL Level 1 qualification or above and experience of working within a primary school.
  • The ability and willingness to understand the needs of students from different social backgrounds, sensory impairments, and special educational needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, in addition to their BSL communication.
